Chuck Nusinov

Veteran leader brings more than 21 years of educational experience

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 6, 2018) – Chuck Nusinov, a veteran educator and educational leader has joined the Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) team as state director-Carolinas. He previously served 172 schools and more than 147,000 students as executive director of learning and teaching in Charlotte-Mecklenberg schools. His educational background includes teaching math, English language arts and social studies in district schools and public charter schools.  He served as assistant principal and principal for grades K-12 and currently is an adjunct professor at Wingate University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for aspiring teachers. Nusinov has authored and edited a variety of mathematics resources for gifted learners and has presented at local, state and national conferences including The College Board, The Lucas Educational Research Foundation and the Council of Great City Schools.  In this role, he will provide oversight of academics, school improvement, operations and leadership development for all schools managed by CSUSA in North and South Carolina.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and business administration from University of Baltimore.  He earned his Master of School Administration and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

CSUSA manages eight schools in North Carolina and one in South Carolina, serving four governing boards and 5900 students. Future plans based on current discussions with governing boards and not-for-profit foundations indicate the possibility of opening two to three schools over the next three to five years depending on community demand.
